BERLIN, GERMANY, 3 March 2026 — Malaysia officially launched its pavilion at ITB Berlin 2026, the world's largest travel trade exhibition, held at Messe Berlin, here. The pavilion was officially launched by, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim at Hall 26 this afternoon.
Malaysia's presence this year is hard to miss. The Malaysia Pavilion stretches across an impressive 988 square metres in Hall 26, Booth 103, bringing together 81 organisations and more than 130 Malaysian tourism businesses under one roof. From boutique tour operators to state tourism boards, the pavilion is a full showcase of what Malaysia has to offer, all in celebration of Visit Malaysia 2026.
Malaysia's popularity among European travellers is on a clear upward trend.
In 2025, 1.69 million European visitors travelled to Malaysia, which is a 13.2% jump compared to the year before. Germany, the home of this very trade show, was among the strongest contributors, sending 188,928 visitors to Malaysia last year, up 10.7% year-on-year.
These signal that Malaysia is fast becoming a go-to destination for European travellers looking for something beyond the usual holiday hotspots.
Over the course of the three-day event, the pavilion will host business meetings, destination presentations, and cultural showcases designed to forge stronger ties between Malaysia's tourism sector and international travel partners, and to generate business outcomes that will drive tourism growth through 2026 and 2027.
Meanwhile, the ceremony was also attended by senior diplomats and tourism leaders from across the country, including Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Mohamad Razdan Jamil; Malacca State Executive Council for Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture, Datuk Wira Abdul Razak Haji Abdul Rahman; Kelantan State Executive Council of Tourism, Culture, Arts & Heritage, Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor; Pahang State Executive Council for Unity, Tourism and Culture, Leong Yu Man; Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor; Chua Yee Ling; Chief Executive Officer of the Sabah Tourism Board, Julinus Jeffery Jimit; and Tourism Manager of LADA, Dr. Azmil Munif Mohd Bukhari.
After a ribbon cutting ceremony to officiate the launch of the Malaysia Pavilion, attendees were invited to help themselves to some delicious Malaysian food, with drinks served from a “kopitiam” style kitchen complete with “warung” style table and chair setting.
