SHAH ALAM, 15 August 2026: Shah Alam came alive on 15 August 2026 as Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam became the centre of Malaysia’s sporting spirit, marking the official opening of SUKMA Selangor 2026.
The much-anticipated opening brought together young athletes and coaches from across the country, alongside ministers, dignitaries and guests, in a vibrant celebration of sport, unity and Malaysian pride.
The grand opening was graced by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting edition of the national games.
A Night of Colour, Pride and Unity
One of the evening’s standout moments was the colourful parade of athletes and mascots.
State contingents proudly made their way through the celebrations in vibrant team colours, waving their state flags as cheers filled Dataran Kemerdekaan. The energy of the athletes, colourful mascots and enthusiastic crowd captured the youthful spirit at the heart of SUKMA.

For the athletes, the moment was more than simply a grand entrance. It was a celebration of the hard work, discipline and determination that brought them to Selangor — and a chance to stand proudly alongside fellow young Malaysians from across the country.
While medals may ultimately define the competition, SUKMA has always been about something bigger: building friendships, creating memories and bringing Malaysians together through sport.

From the Field to the Stage
The celebrations continued into the night with an exciting line-up of performances featuring Jaclyn Victor, Balan Kash, Azlan & The Typewriter and more.
The atmosphere became even more lively as athletes joined in the celebrations, singing along, cheering and enjoying the performances with their teammates.
It was a fitting way to begin the games — celebrating not just sporting excellence, but the people and stories behind every team.
And Now, Let the Games Begin
With the opening ceremony officially marking the start of SUKMA Selangor 2026, the spotlight now shifts to the athletes as competition gets underway across Selangor.

For the host state, the games are also an opportunity to showcase Selangor's ability to bring together sporting excellence, culture, entertainment and community on a national stage.
From the roar of the crowd to the colours of the opening parade, 15 August marked the beginning of what is set to be an unforgettable chapter in Malaysian sports.
The ceremony may be over, but the real action has only just begun.
To every athlete representing their state — all the best, compete with heart and make every moment count.
SUKMA Selangor 2026 is officially on.
