KUCHING, 4 December 2025: The IDECS25 Digital Art Gallery (DAG25) recorded more than 6,200 AI-generated artworks submitted by members of the public, school students, families, and art enthusiasts across Sarawak, marking one of the region’s most significant community-wide engagements in digital creativity to date.
Held from 22 to 26 October 2025 at Makeramai Makerspace, Plaza Merdeka, the ‘AI Artventure’ exhibition surpassed expectations as visitors explored interactive digital screens, experimented with accessible AI tools, and discovered how technology is reshaping the future of creative expression.
Turnout remained strong throughout the five-day showcase, with visitors ranging from young children to families and art enthusiasts exploring AI tools and experiencing digital creativity firsthand. The overwhelming response reflects a 4rapidly growing interest among Sarawakians in embracing digital literacy through creative and accessible platforms.
A standout moment came from SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor, which submitted an extraordinary 1,285 artworks, earning the school the Most Entries Award along with a 65” iBoard. The achievement demonstrates the school’s commitment to nurturing digital readiness among its students and highlights the growing interest in AI-driven creativity within Sarawak’s education ecosystem.

“Using AI to create art is a simple and welcoming starting point for people to begin understanding artificial intelligence. It lets our communities be creative while learning how AI thinks and responds. This early exposure builds confidence and prepares them to use more advanced AI tools in the future,” said Amirrul Rizwan Mohd Abd Hafiz, Lead Secretariat of IDECS25.
The exhibition also welcomed visits from several local schools, providing students with the opportunity to explore interactive AI tools and experience firsthand how technology enhances creative learning.
DAG25 also recognised outstanding creative talent with awards across age groups. In the Secondary Category, Hani Hafina Binti Mohamad Hanapi of SMK Tinggi Kuching received the Most Creative Artwork Award. In the Primary Category, the award went to Angel Low Xin Tong from SJK Chung Hua Pangkalan Baru. Both winners received an iPad in recognition of their exceptional creativity.

As one of the key community-driven programmes of the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS25), DAG25 supports Sarawak’s commitment to building a digitally confident society equipped for future opportunities. By giving the public hands-on exposure to AI tools, the initiative supports the goals of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030, ensuring that creativity, innovation, and digital readiness grow hand in hand across the region.
