KUCHING, 12 October 2026: tHe Spring Shopping Mall has launched its 17-day Bright Side Project campaign, bringing together sports, food, fashion, entertainment and community initiatives in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Running from October 9 to 25, the campaign carries the theme “Find Your Bright Side” and aims to encourage an active lifestyle, meaningful social connections and greater community involvement through a series of activities across the mall.

The launch ceremony on Friday was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, who also took part in a friendly pickleball game with FRIDAY Pickleball coach and Skechers Malaysia ambassador Toi Sui Ee following the presentation of a ceremonial pickleball paddle by tHe Spring executive director Datin Christine Ling.

The campaign features five themed zones offering activities for visitors of all ages, including an indoor pickleball court, outdoor picnic nights, food and fashion booths, live music and a cat-focused pet fair.

The Arena, located at the mall’s South Court, will host pickleball clinics, open-play sessions and special events until October 25. These include the FRIDAY Pickleball Weekend on October 17 and 18, featuring Toi, and the Wilson Takeover from October 23 to 25. Advance booking is required for pickleball sessions.

Meanwhile, tHe Heat at Premier Car Park 1 will offer outdoor dining, local food vendors, dance-fitness sessions, games, live music and DJ performances until October 18. Other attractions include the beach-themed tHe Cabana, which features desserts, lifestyle and activewear booths, as well as tHe Playground and tHe Furry pet fair.

A key highlight of the campaign is Pink Day on October 10, which was graced by Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, alongside Datin Chrisitine Ling and SCAN Kuching advisor Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and highlight that survivors can continue to lead active and fulfilling lives following diagnosis.

A friendly pickleball session coached by Toi brought together breast cancer survivors representing the Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN Kuching) and the Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group (SBCSG), alongside members of the public.

Dayang Mariani, herself a breast cancer survivor, also shared her personal journey in a session titled “Life Beyond Diagnosis”.

The mall’s tenants also took part in the awareness campaign through pink-themed outfits, storefront displays and promotions, while a “Zumba in Pink” session was held at tHe Heat in the evening.

Shoppers can also support the cause by purchasing “Pink It Up!” pins for RM10 each at the mall’s ground-floor Concierge throughout October. A public donation box has also been placed beside the tribute wall behind the Concierge, with proceeds from both initiatives to be shared between SCAN Kuching and SBCSG.

The Bright Side Project runs until October 25 at tHe Spring Kuching, with free admission.
