Sarawak Mega Fair debuts in Singapore
SINGAPORE, 17 October 2025 – Sarawak officially launched its inaugural Mega Fair 2025 yesterday at Suntec City Convention Centre and Tower 1 & 2 atriums. Held from 16 to 19 October, the fair, organised by the Sarawak government through the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos), transformed Suntec City into a showcase of Borneo’s cultural richness, tourism potential, and forward-looking economic vision.

The launch was officiated by Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.

Sarawak Mega Fair 2025’s Conference and Exhibition (16 & 17 October) features a full programme designed to deepen bilateral ties and inspire new collaborations. Its launch also included the unveiling of the Sarawak Export Programme by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), as well as Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) exchanges between Sarawak and Singapore for cross-border partnerships and sustainable growth.

In delivering his keynote address, the Premier emphasised Sarawak’s positioning as a green energy hub, noting that investors who adopt renewable energy practices will be able to gain a green premium for their products.

“The world is now seeking green products that do not harm the environment,” he said. The Premier later toured the exhibition area.

In his welcoming address, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan, who is also the Chairman of Sarawak Mega Fair 2025, described the fair as a strategic platform to promote Sarawak’s high-quality products and services, expand economic cooperation, and draw inspiration from Singapore’s world-class development model.

“This exhibition reflects the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of Sarawakians who are now confidently stepping into global markets,” he said.

Among the highlights of today’s conference was the panel discussion titled “Investment Opportunities in Sarawak Part 1”, moderated by Datu Lester anak Matthew, Director of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Sarawak. The session featured insights from Datu Abg. Ahmad Abg. Morni from the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty); Datu Jafri bin Lias, Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT); Datu Sirai anak Daha, Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD); Dzulkornain bin Masron from the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED); as well as Datu Sherrina binti Hussaini of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP). The discussion explored strategic investment and partnership opportunities across Sarawak’s high-impact sectors, including clean energy, digital economy, agro-industry, and creative tourism.

Breakout sessions throughout the day allowed delegates to engage with industry experts, explore business matchmaking opportunities, and discover Sarawak’s unique value proposition in sectors such as hydrogen economy, carbon trading, and sustainable downstream industries.

Meanwhile, Tengah later also officiated the launch of the ‘Sarawak Carnival’, held at the Suntec City’s Atrium (Convention Centre) and running concurrently with the Conference and Exhibition in a lively ceremony featuring traditional music and dances as well as the sampling of Sarawak food and drinks, among others.
