SALCRA reveals new corporate logo & renames headquarters at Golden Jubilee Dinner

KUCHING, 13 October 2026: The Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) celebrated its 50th anniversary last night during the SALCRA Golden Jubilee Dinner at Kuching’s Imperial Hotel, bringing together over 1,000 distinguished guests to commemorate 50 years of service, achievements and contributions to the state’s rural development.
Graced by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and his daughter, Dayang Norjihan, the dinner also honours SALCRA’s stakeholders, employees and communities who have supported its journey since 1976, including former Chairmen, General Managers and Pioneer Staff.
“50 years ago, we sowed an idea – that Native Customary Rights land could be developed systematically and productively, while remaining an important asset of its owners. Over the years, SALCRA and our participating communities grew together. We developed estates, established mills, created employment, generated economic activity and built institutional capability,” said SALCRA Chairman and Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom.

Themed ‘Sow, Grow and Prosper’, the evening was made more special with the unveiling of SALCRA’s new corporate logo and the official renaming of Wisma SALCRA. SALCRA’s new corporate logo, built around a prominent ‘S’ in the form of the terabai, represents an organisation that remains rooted in its core mandate while continuously progressing and transforming.
Meanwhile, Wisma SALCRA was officially renamed Menara Alfred Jabu, in recognition of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu ak Numpang’s contribution to the establishment and development of SALCRA as well as his decades of leadership and service to the Authority and rural communities. He also served as SALCRA Chairman twice, and concluded his final tenure on January 25, 2017.

The evening also honoured former SALCRA Chairmen and General Managers for their leadership, service and contributions throughout the Authority’s 50-year journey. They include former Chairmen, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Alfred Jabu ak Numpang, Dato Sri Gramong Juna, Datuk Peter Nyarok ak Entrie, Dato Musa Giri and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and former General Managers, Sidi Munan, Dato Leonard Martin Uning, Tuan William Jitab and Datu Vasco Sabat Singkang.
Earlier in the evening, the Premier also launched the SALCRA Commemorative Book in conjunction with the anniversary, titled ‘Land, People and Progress: Five Decades of SALCRA and Rural Transformation in Sarawak – 50 Years 1976 – 2026’, written by Dr. Regina Garai and Datu Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat and published by UNIMAS. The commemorative book is described as both a historical record and a tribute to the people who shaped SALCRA’s journey, drawing on archival records, historical documents, photographs and personal recollections.

In his official address, the Premier called on SALCRA to conduct research on turning oil palm waste into sustainable aviation fuel, suggesting the possibility of developing a hybrid fuel using palm-derived fatty acids and hydrocarbons, which could allow SALCRA to move beyond cultivation of oil palm and open up new business opportunities in other fields. “Sarawak must be willing to explore new technologies and strengthen its economy using business models. The technology available today will not only help SALCRA assess tree conditions, but also predict yields and help determine when replanting should be carried out.”
Also in attendance at last night’s Golden Jubilee Dinner were Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Minister in the Premier’s Department, Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, Deputy Chairman of Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Jugah and SALCRA General Manager, Datu Joseph Blandoi.
