KUCHING, 21 January 2026: The Kuching Waterfront is set to come alive this week with ‘Pesta Lokal’, a vibrant two-day celebration organised by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) in collaboration with TikTok Shop Malaysia, which will culminate in the crowning of Sarawak’s first ever Sarawak Digital Mall (SDM) icon.
The carnival, taking place January 23 and 24, 2026 from 10AM to 11PM, marks 1.5 years of a strategic partnership between SDEC and TikTok Shop Malaysia, which is aimed at equipping Sarawakian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the skills, tools and exposure needed to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
Members of the public have plenty to look forward to, including a local seller marketplace, which showcases the best Sarawak-made goods, including Malaysian brands like Beauboss, Tanamera, KKMY, Cokado Malaysia, Onsmo, NIMS, HYGR, Nomiya Skincare, Sinang Food and Dkhaulah Kek Lapis, live selling sessions hosted by top-performing sellers and brands, a first-of-its-kind Creator-Matchmaking Programme initiative which connects Sarawakian creators with sellers across Malaysia, the Sarawak Seller Excellence Awards and the SDM Icon Recognition and Awards Ceremony. There will also be special appearances from top creators!
Pesta Lokal will be officially launched on January 23, 2026 by the Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, on behalf of the Premier.

More than a commercial event, the carnival celebrates resilience, innovation and Sarawak’s entrepreneurial spirit, bringing together local enterprises, cultural experiences and success stories while spotlighting Sarawak-made products on a national and regional stage.
Under the Sarawak Digital Mall initiative led by SDEC, with support from TikTok Shop Malaysia and the Ministry for International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), hundreds of Sarawakian entrepreneurs have undergone structured training, participated in livestreaming and creator collaborations and gained access to social commerce tools that connect local products to wider markets.
Sarawak Digital Mall ‘Pesta Lokal’ will place these entrepreneurs at the centre of the spotlight, offering the public an opportunity to meet the faces behind Sarawak-made brands and witness how traditional businesses are adapting to digital commerce. From heritage crafts to contemporary consumer goods, Sarawak-made products are increasingly finding new audiences through authentic, local storytelling across digital platforms.

“Pesta Lokal is a celebration of resilience and the ‘extra mile’ taken by our entrepreneurs,” said Chief Executive Officer of SDEC, Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman. “It brings to life the progress made over the past 18 months and invites the public to experience how Sarawak’s unique identity is being expressed through modern digital commerce.”
“We are grateful for the continued collaboration with the government in empowering local MSMEs and creators to unlock opportunities in the digital economy. Together, we remain committed to growing a sustainable e-commerce ecosystem that enables homegrown products to reach highly engaged communities nationwide through Shoppertainment,” said Senior Director of Strategic Partnership, TikTok Shop Malaysia, Nur Azre Abd Aziz.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, creator or consumer, everyone is welcome to Sarawak Digital Mall’s Pesta Lokal! Head on over to the Kuching Waterfront this weekend between 10AM to 11PM to experience the future of commerce shaped by Sarawakian talent.
