KUCHING, 6 March 2026: The Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) Gawai Dayak Open House, Parade and Concert will be taking place at Rumah Veriland in Engkeranji, Betong this June 6, 2026, in celebration of Dayak culture, unity and heritage through a series of cultural activities.

This was announced earlier today during a press conference by Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. “I am especially delighted that this festival and parade will take place in Betong – a town rich in Dayak heritage and vibrant community spirit. Hosting this event in Betong will highlight the district’s cultural identity while creating meaningful opportunities for local entrepreneurs, artisans and businesses.”

The event will begin with a Gawai Parade in the morning at Betong Town Centre, featuring cultural troupes and community groups, followed by the Gawai Open House at 5PM, and concluding with a concert in the evening, headlined by Sarawak’s own At Adau. Organised by STF, the event is expected to attract 2,000 to 5,000 visitors, including government officials, tourism industry players, local communities and tourists.

Visitors will also have the chance to reside at a contemporary longhouse or take part in the camping and glamping experiences offered by Borneo Glamping at Nanga Mujau campsite, where there will be traditional pansoh cooking, handicraft and cultural workshops as well as river-based eco experiences.
