In town for RAYS? Let's explore Kuching!
The Rainforest Youth Summit 2024 is happening June 26 to 28, 2024 and will take place at the state-of-the-art Hikmah Exchange Event Centre and the beautiful Borneo Cultures Museum, located in the heart of Kuching city centre. With plenty of cafes and attractions in the surrounding area, don't miss out on exploring this vibrant city during your time here, delegates!

Just 450 metres away from BCM is the Songket & Keringkam Gallery, located at Jalan Masjid. Aimed at promoting and popularising these traditional masterpieces, this gallery showcases the history behind them, demonstrations on songket-weaving and keringkam embroidery, as well as ready-to-wear attires and accessories that are available for sale.

Kuching Waterfront by night is an experience not to be missed! Located 1km away from BCM, you can catch the nightly musical fountain performance that happens right opposite the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building, have a leisurely stroll along the waterfront or head up the Darul Hana Bridge for a panoramic view of Kuching city centre and the Sarawak River.Â

Just a few steps away from BCM is an underrated attraction, the Sarawak Islamic Heritage Museum! Once a school, the building has been around since 1930, and became a full-fledged museum in 1992. Entry to the museum is free and visitors can explore the rich historical heritage and culture of the Muslim community in Sarawak through the 7 galleries set around a central courtyard garden.Â

The India Street Pedestrian Mall is 850 metres away from BCM and has a long and unique historical heritage. Converted into a pedestrian mall in 1992, India Street is now a car-free zone, complete with a covered roof and is a shopping haven for tourists and locals alike. Visitors can find a variety of products here, including spices, textiles, clothing and dried produce.Â

Don’t miss out on visiting Carpenter Street during your time in Kuching! With a delightful mix of old-school shop lots and modern stores, Carpenter Street is a vibrant spot only 600 metres away from BCM, with a wide variety of furniture shops, coffee shops, hawker stalls, Chinese temples and a beautiful Harmony Arch which marks the entrance to the street.
