The Borneo Cultures Museum recorded the entry of 7,762 people on International Museum Day 2025.
KUCHING, 19 May 2025: The Borneo Cultures Museum opened its doors to the general public in conjunction with this year’s International Museum Day, which falls annually on May 18, welcoming a total number of 7,762 visitors of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities.

For International Museum Day, sharing sessions were held at the museum’s Auditorium, including talks on ‘Papan Turai Gawai Batu 517: A Pillar of Sarawak’s Cultural Legacy & Historical Evolution’, ‘Archaeological History of the Niah Caves’ and ‘A Conservation Story from the Sea to the Shore: The Story of Triso’s Whale’. Over at the Arts & Crafts Gallery, a pottery and textiles workshop entitled ‘The Art of Repair’ was held throughout the day while the children were treated to a colouring session in the morning.

All in all, a total of 7,762 people visited the Borneo Cultures Museum in conjunction with International Museum Day 2025. Aptly themed ‘The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities’, the overwhelming response from the public proves that BCM is more than capable of navigating and contributing to a world undergoing profound social technological and environmental shifts.

See you at next year’s International Museum Day!
