KUCHING, 12 December 2025 - The holidays are about to get a whole lot merrier for folks in Sibu and Miri. Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is bringing back its Christmas market this year, and it's going to be bigger and better than before. The board is transforming its Visitor Information Centres into cheerful festive villages packed with music, creativity and that special holiday feeling we all love.
Building on last year's hit Twinkling Christmas Market, STB is rolling out its Jingling Christmas Market 2025 over two weekends and in two locations. Sibu gets first dibs with celebrations at the Sibu Heritage Centre from Dec 12 to 14. Then it's Miri's turn at VIC Garden from Dec 19 to 21. Both markets open their doors from 4pm to 10pm each day, which gives everyone plenty of time to soak in the Christmas spirit.
There's something for everyone at these markets, whether you're 5 or 55 years old. You can roll up your sleeves and create your own Christmas decorations at the handmade ornament workshops. Feel the warmth of community in carolling sessions. Watch the kids light up during treasure hunts designed to keep them running around with excitement. Tap your feet to live music from talented local performers. And yes, Santa himself will be making his rounds, spreading joy and handing out surprises to delighted children. Each location will also mark the start of festivities with a magical Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on opening night. And you don't even need to pay a single Sen to join in the fun.

More than 40 local vendors will be showcasing their goods in both cities, 15 vendors in Sibu and 30 in Miri. These are your neighbours, the crafters and artisans who pour their hearts into creating beautiful handmade goods and festive treats. It's your chance to find unique gifts you won't see anywhere else while supporting the creative people who make Sarawak special. For these small business owners, the market offers a wonderful opportunity to share their work and meet the community face to face.
“The Jingling Christmas Market is about more than decorations and carols—it's about strengthening community bonds, giving families a space to celebrate, and reimagining our VICs as lively gathering points where culture, creativity and connection thrive,” explained CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board, Dr. Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor.
STB wants to show that its Visitor Information Centres can also be warm, welcoming spaces where families and friends naturally want to gather. These markets are all about bringing people together and creating those special moments that make the holidays memorable.
Grab your family, call up your friends, and come experience Christmas the Sarawak way. There will be plenty of chances to snap festive photos, activities that'll keep everyone entertained, and local vendors with treasures to discover. As the year winds down, this is the perfect way to celebrate the season and feel that sense of community we all need.
