STB recognised as Grand Title Winner at PATA Gold Awards 2026

KUCHING, 20 August 2026: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) was honoured with the prestigious Grand Title Winner recognition at the recently held PATA Gold Awards 2026 under the Marketing category for its Guinness World Records Title – Longest Cumulative Distance by a Remote-Controlled Multirotor/Drone Relay initiative.
The achievement reflects Sarawak’s continued efforts to leverage creativity, technology and compelling storytelling to strengthen its global destination presence, further reinforcing the state’s position as a destination that embraces innovation while celebrating its natural assets, cultural heritage and communities. It also highlights the importance of evolving tourism approaches that create stronger connections with travellers through meaningful and memorable experiences.
The PATA Gold Awards 2026 Gala Dinner, which took place at Sheraton Kuching Hotel on August 18, 2026, celebrates excellence and innovation in tourism marketing across the Asia Pacific, and is a part of PATA Travel Mart 2026, which brings together tourism leaders, travel trade partners, government representatives, airlines, industry leaders and international media from across the Asia Pacific for 5 days of unparalleled networking and contracting opportunities.
This milestone marks a significant moment for Sarawak, as it hosts PATA Travel Mart during PATA’s 75th anniversary year, reflecting international confidence in the state’s ability to host major global tourism platforms, contribute meaningfully to the future of tourism and reinforce Sarawak’s growing regional role and its ambition to help shape a more meaningful, responsible and connected tourism industry.
Throughout PATA Travel Mart 2026, Sarawak is showcasing its distinctive tourism proposition through its Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals (CANFF) pillars, highlighting the experiences that define the destination and connect visitors with its people, heritage and environment. Sarawak is also showcasing its internationally recognised natural and heritage assets, including Gunung Mulu National Park, Niah National Park’s Caves Complex and the Sarawak Delta UNESCO Global Geopark, reflecting the destination’s rich biodiversity, geological heritage and cultural significance.
Beyond these recognised assets, Sarawak is highlighting tourism experiences rooted in local communities, indigenous knowledge, traditional craftsmanship, culinary heritage and creative expressions, reinforcing the state’s commitment to ensuring tourism creates meaningful opportunities beyond urban centres.
