Startup Village Borneo 2026 brings global tech builders to Sarawak
The Startup Village Borneo 2026 is happening in Kuching from September 6 to 9, 2026.
KUCHING, 7 September 2026: Startup Village Borneo 2026, co-hosted by SOCOE Sdn Bhd, the Solana Foundation and SuperTeam as anchor partners, is running from September 6 to 9, 2026, bringing together over 100 builders, founders, engineers and technology architects working across AI, blockchain and other emerging technologies to Kuching.

By bringing Malaysian and international builders into the state to develop solutions and connect with the global technology ecosystem, Sarawak is turning the traditional technology talent equation on its head alongside an international group of supporting ecosystem and investment players.

With many participants travelling from outside Sarawak, including West Malaysia, Europe, Vietnam, the wider Asia-Pacific region, the United States and Russia, participants are expected to take their products into Kuching, interact with potential users and document the problems they encounter, allowing teams to test whether their solutions address genuine needs, as the Startup Village Borneo is designed around real-world development rather than building technology solely for a competition. The programme culminates in Demo Day on September 9, where participants will showcase the products and traction developed during the programme.

“Startup Village Borneo represents a broader effort to make talent development part of Sarawak's digital infrastructure, while demonstrating that the state can attract rather than merely export technology talent. Talent development is not simply about organising an event or competition. It is about building capability, networks and an environment where people can come to Sarawak, create here and remain connected to the global technology ecosystem," SOCOE said in a press statement.

“Bringing the ecosystem to Kuching creates opportunities for builders to form relationships, test ideas and access knowledge and networks that extend far beyond the programme itself," the Solana Foundation added.

By bringing together expertise in AI, blockchain and other emerging technologies, Startup Village Borneo demonstrates how engineers and technology architects can tap international tools, capital, expertise and networks while building from Sarawak.
