Sarawak offers exciting deals at MATTA Fair, KL

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 April 2026 – With MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur opening its doors today at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), here, Sarawak is grabbing the opportunity to showcase its latest tourism offering, namely its Sia Sitok Sarawak 2026 campaign, which Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) officially launched at the Sarawak Pavilion this morning.

The campaign is part of Sarawak's ongoing effort to encourage Malaysians to travel locally, inviting them to rediscover the state through affordable, well-put-together travel experiences. It lets you enjoy a limited-time promotion offering up to 40% savings on Sarawak holiday packages. The deals are available exclusively to visitors at the Sarawak Pavilion (Booth 1R01) during the fair.

As global travel habits continue to change with shifting world events, Sia Sitok Sarawak 2026 comes at just the right time and making it easier and more affordable for Malaysians to explore everything the State has to offer.

“Domestic travellers have always been a central part of Sarawak’s tourism story, and their strong support over the past few years has contributed significantly to the steady growth we are seeing today. As we move through Visit Malaysia Year 2026, initiatives like Sia Sitok Sarawak allow us to connect directly with travellers and invite them to experience the many sides of Sarawak. Visitors to MATTA Fair can enjoy up to 40% savings on participating Sarawak holiday packages, with travel valid until 15 December 2026, giving travellers the flexibility to plan their journeys throughout the year while exploring the diverse landscapes, cultures and experiences that Sarawak has to offer,” said STB Chairman, Dato Dennis Ngau as he spoke on the importance of domestic travellers to Sarawak’s tourism growth.

The promotion features more than 80 curated holiday packages, developed together with 17 licensed Sarawak tour operators. Each package is put together as a minimum 3-day, 2-night (3D2N) trip that combines accommodation with guided tours and ready-made itineraries so travellers can simply show up and enjoy.

The packages cover multiple regions across Sarawak, each with its own character and appeal. In Southern Sarawak, Kuching draws visitors with its heritage streets, vibrant culture, and easy access to wildlife and national parks. Central Sarawak, centred around Sibu, takes travellers along the Rajang River, into traditional longhouses, and through genuine cultural encounters. Further north, Miri serves as the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Gunung Mulu National Park and Niah National Park, as well as the cool highland retreat of Bario.

Besides travel packages, STB is also encouraging visitors to plan their trips around Sarawak’s busy events calendar, with over 110 events taking place across the region in 2026. The highlight of the year is the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2026, which will run from 26 to 28 June at the Sarawak Cultural Village. One of Southeast Asia’s most well-known music festivals, this year’s edition will feature artistes including Dato’ M. Nasir, The Commodores featuring Thomas McClary, and Incognito. There will also be daytime cultural workshops and exchanges, all set against the stunning backdrop of Borneo’s rainforest. After the festival, more than 70 events will carry on throughout the region, encompassing cultural, lifestyle, and sporting experiences.

The Sarawak Pavilion also lets visitors to the fair get a feel of the region’s living culture through interactive showcases like traditional sape and nose flute performances, live handicraft demonstrations, keringkam embroidery, batik painting displays, as well as quiz sessions and souvenir giveaways.

MATTA Fair runs until April 6, 2026 at MITEC, and is open to the public. Check out the Sarawak Pavilion at Booth 1R01.
