Sarawak Countdown 2026 to feature KRU, Judika, and Dayang Nurfaizah

KUCHING, 12 December 2025 - Ring in 2026 with the most amazing countdown party Sarawak has ever seen! The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak is throwing a huge New Year's Eve celebration at Kuching Waterfront on December 31st, and it's going to be absolutely epic.

Get ready for the legendary Malaysian group KRU, who will rock the stage with their iconic hits. Indonesian superstar Judika is also flying in to keep the party going until late into the night. Malaysian singing queen Dayang Nurfaizah will also perform, along with popular artists Jatt Ali and Naqiu. Trust us, you don't want to miss this lineup!

“We're bringing together the best artists from Sarawak, Malaysia, and our neighbors in Indonesia,” said Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah when announcing the countdown event at a press conference here earlier today.

The party kicks off at 8pm with local Sarawak bands and dancers, followed by local favourites like Gabriel Mawat, Ng Chien Chien, Meera Zada, Carrie Geres, Razali Sa'at, and Jolly Jengan to warm up the crowd.

Then the big guns come out. KRU, Dayang Nurfaizah, Jatt Ali, and Naqiu will take over the stage. Right at midnight, a spectacular musical fireworks display will light up the sky as we say goodbye to 2025 and hello to 2026, after which Judika will perform his mega-hits that fans absolutely love - songs like "Aku Yang Tersakiti" (227 million YouTube views!), "Bagaimana Kalau Aku" (130 million views), and "Cinta Karena Cinta" (163 million views).

As if that wasn't enough excitement, there'll be a special drone show called “Gateway To A Sarawak Guinness World Record” - featuring the Guinness World Record for the longest GPS journey by drone relay. How cool is that?

The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg are expected to grace the event, and everyone's invited! And the best thing is that it's completely free to attend.

“I want to invite everyone to come and make this Countdown 2026 at Kuching Waterfront the biggest and most exciting New Year celebration in Sarawak,” Karim said when speaking at the press conference.
