Pullman Kuching launches stunning newly transformed Chinese restaurant

KUCHING, 22 June 2026 – Pullman Kuching yesterday launched its newly transformed signature Chinese restaurant, Nu Er Hong, and boy is it stunning! The launch was officiated by Deputy State Secretary (Operation), Datu Hii Chang Kee, together with Executive Chairman of Interhill Group, Datin Lau Ngok Yung; Managing Director of Interhill Group, Albert Hu; and Executive Director of Interhill Group, Rogina Hu. It was a fitting send-off for a restaurant that has clearly been crafted with great care and enormous ambition.

The opening ceremony was every bit as memorable as the restaurant itself. Guests were welcomed with a traditional lion dance by the Kuching Fu Hok Dragon and Lion Dance Association. Live performances by Diana Liu and the Oriental Traditional Orchestra Kuching filled the evening with a gentle, atmospheric music, while private dining room tours gave guests a proper look at the stunning spaces within.

There was even a kung fu tea ceremony, which took place before the evening’s most symbolic moment, namely the First Pour Ritual. This alcohol-free ceremony paid tribute to Nu Er Hong’s 16-year journey and the celebration of life’s most meaningful milestones. It was moving and very much in keeping with the soul of this restaurant.

To cap the night, guests departed with artisanal jars of Nu Er Hong's signature Chilli Oils and Caramelised Walnuts, handcrafted by Chef Charles.

The name Nu Er Hong carries a beautiful story. In Chinese tradition, wine is sealed away at a daughter’s birth and only brought out on her wedding day, which was a ritual of patience, trust, and the honouring of time. That same philosophy runs through everything at the restaurant: unhurried, intentional, and meaningful.

Nu Er Hong is a fully halal-certified Chinese fine dining restaurant, which makes it quite a rare and exciting proposition in Sarawak. The culinary vision draws from the coastal regions of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong, resulting in a style of cooking that’s inspired by maritime heritage and flavour, delivered with finesse.

General Manager of Pullman Kuching, Sunardi Song, said: “With Nu Er Hong, we are not just opening a restaurant. We are making a statement about what Sarawak can offer to the world. This is a place where global sophistication meets local heritage, where Halal integrity meets coastal Chinese artistry, and where every meal becomes a milestone. As Sarawak continues to grow as a premier destination for business and leisure, Nu Er Hong stands ready to welcome the world to our table: a House of Harmony, a Table for Milestones.”

Walking into Nu Er Hong is a proper experience in itself. The interiors draw inspiration from the historic Maritime Silk Road and you can feel it in every detail. Fujian craftsmanship, soothing Longjing tea hues, and subtle nautical motifs come together to evoke the spirit of a grand trading voyage. It’s elegant without being cold, and intimate without feeling cramped.

The private dining rooms are a particular highlight. Each one is thoughtfully conceived around the life occasions such as weddings, family reunions, and corporate board dinners, so the setting feels right for the moment, not merely functional.

The kitchen is led by Chef Charles, who brings real skill and reverence to time-honoured coastal Chinese recipes, all prepared within rigorous halal standards. At the launch, guests were treated to some of the restaurant’s signature dishes, and they made quite the impression:

  • Nu Er Hong Roasted Duck, presented at a live-carving station.

  • Fujian Braised Two-Headed Supreme Abalone with King Oyster Sauce - Rich, luxurious, and the kind of dish you think about long after the meal

  • Baked Char Siu Cod Fish, a beautifully balanced nod to Cantonese technique, with wonderful depth of flavour

Besides the à la carte experience, Nu Er Hong is clearly positioning itself as Kuching’s go-to venue for life’s big occasions. For corporate event planners, it strengthens Pullman Kuching’s already impressive MICE offering, meaning world-class banqueting is now available without ever leaving the property. For couples planning their wedding, it presents a venue capable of hosting inclusive, heritage-rich celebrations in style.

Nu Er Hong is refined without being stuffy, rich in heritage without feeling dated, and accessible to a broad range of guests. Wedding, birthday, business deal, or just a treat for that someone special, Nu Er Hong is the perfect place for all of that.
