Taking place from 29 July to 2 August 2026, the five-day festival marks an exciting addition to Malaysia’s live entertainment calendar, bringing together some of the country’s finest comedic talents under one roof. More than just a stand-up comedy festival, PJ Comedy Fest is a celebration of Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity, featuring performances in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil. Festival-goers can look forward to nine unique productions featuring 29 comedians alongside 11 talented teen performers. Each show offers a distinct experience, ranging from razor-sharp stand-up comedy and fast-paced improvisation to intimate storytelling, interactive audience performances, spectacular gala showcases and a special teen theatre production for families. With performances running between 60 and 90 minutes, audiences can enjoy an entertaining evening while catching multiple shows throughout the festival.

One of the festival’s defining features is its thoughtfully designed dual-venue experience, with all performances taking place at DeStage @ Jaya One across two dedicated performance spaces operating simultaneously on selected days. The Studio, an intimate venue seating approximately 100 guests, creates the perfect setting for storytelling performances, solo acts and close audience interaction, where every expression and punchline feels personal. Meanwhile, the larger Main Hall, with a capacity of around 480 guests, provides the scale and atmosphere for ensemble productions and the festival’s headline Comedy Gala. This two-stage format allows audiences to enjoy different styles of comedy in a single evening, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere rarely experienced in Malaysia.

Leading the festival is Joanne Kam, one of Malaysia’s most celebrated comedians, who serves as Festival Director and curator through KAM Productions. Joanne has assembled an impressive line-up that combines established comedy favourites with exciting emerging talents, reflecting her longstanding commitment to nurturing Malaysia’s comedy and performing arts scene. Having built an acclaimed career across Malaysia, Singapore and Australia while producing internationally recognised comedy productions, she brings decades of experience and a clear vision to the festival. Beyond delivering outstanding performances, her aim is to create a platform where comedians from diverse backgrounds can share the spotlight while strengthening Malaysia’s growing live comedy community.
