India bags Gold, Silver Star at ITB Berlin
India’s Ministry of Tourism recently won the Golden & Silver Star in the TV/Cinema Commercials International and Country International categories at the prestigious Golden City Gate Tourism Awards 2023 which took place during ITB Berlin, the world’s leading tourism trade show. The awards were received by Shri Arvind Singh, India’s Secretary for Tourism.
India’s Ministry of Tourism, under its Incredible India line, had showcased the country’s rich and diverse tourism potential through their participation in ITB Berlin 2023, promoting India as a ‘Must See, Must Visit’ destination.
The India Pavilion was inaugurated by Secretary of Tourism, Arvind Singh, Ambassador of India in Germany, H.E. Parvathaneni Harish, as well as other Indian officials from the State Government of Kerala, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Union Territory of Ladakh and Puducherry.
Around 60 participants from India were part of the India Pavilion, including travel agents, tour operators, airlines, hotels, the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, showcasing the diverse tourism products and services.
In the newly built City Cube Congress Venue of the Messe Berlin, India also held their “Incredible India welcomes the world” press conference on March 7, where Telangana Minister for Tourism, V. Srinivas Goud, Secretary of Tourism, Arvind Singh, Ambassador of India in Germany, H.E. Parvathaneni Harish and Senior Economic Advisor of India’s Ministry of Tourism, Gyan Bhushan, all presented the highlight of the new season, as well as a restart for the tourism sector worldwide.
65 international journalists participated in the press conference, including international television channels, national German magazines and newspapers as well as international European media. Some of the most influential German tourism magazines including FVW, Touristik Aktuell and national television ARD were also present.
During ITB Berlin, India had set up an impressive pavilion within which various state tourism departments, airlines and tour operators are participants, showcasing a variety of tourism products including culture, heritage, adventure, rural tourism and niche tourism products such as cuisine, wellness, yoga, wildlife, and luxury.
Throughout ITB Berlin, India continuously engages with industry experts and other relevant stakeholders and takes their suggestions and feedback for promotion of varied tourism products of India. The India Tourism Ministry is on a mission to unlock the untapped potential of tourism in India, making India a 365-day destination, harnessing the momentum created by the recovery of the global industry, preferential sentiment from global travelers for exploring India and building upon the success in growing tourism in India over the years.
