KUCHING, 31 January 2026 - Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Chiew Choon Man wrapped up his first day of official duties in Sarawak with a relaxed dinner session with local media yesterday evening.
The gathering at Lepau restaurant gave Chiew a chance to connect with Sarawak journalists in a casual setting during his working visit to Kuching.
Earlier that day, the deputy minister paid a courtesy call on Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at the Minister’s office in Petra Jaya.
The meeting brought together leaders from both Federal and State levels to discuss how they could work better together to boost Sarawak's tourism sector, creative industries and performing arts scene.
Chiew's visit to Sarawak is aimed at inspecting MOTAC agencies and seeing firsthand how tourism, arts and culture programmes are being rolled out across the State.
The trip is hoped to give fresh momentum to efforts in strengthening local tourism, preserving Sarawak's rich cultural heritage, and driving sustainable economic growth through the tourism sector.
