A New Chapter for Women’s Golf: Damai Ladies Challenge makes its debut in Sarawak

KUCHING, 19 October 2026 – The inaugural Damai Ladies Challenge brought women golfers together for a day of friendly competition, wellness and camaraderie at Damai Golf & Country Club on 17 October, with Jennifer Jane crowned the tournament’s first champion.
Jointly organised by Damai Golf & Country Club and creative entrepreneur Arafah Edruce, the tournament marks the beginning of the Ladies in Golf Series, an initiative to encourage more women to take up golf and provide a welcoming platform for players of all skill levels.
Beyond the course, participants enjoyed a Pilates session in collaboration with Ringside by Johan Ghazali, combining sport with wellness. The day concluded with a Halloween-themed dinner and prize-giving ceremony, featuring creative costumes, lucky draws and special awards.
According to co-organiser and creative director Arafah Edruce, the initiative aims to create more than just a golfing competition. It is also about building connections, helping women gain confidence on the course and creating a community where both experienced golfers and beginners feel welcome.

The series also hopes to bring together golfers from different generations while introducing lifestyle activities that make the sport more accessible and enjoyable. Through this approach, the organisers aim to create an experience that participants can look forward to beyond the competition itself.
The event was supported by Damai Golf & Country Club’s management and operations teams, alongside sponsors and local businesses including CHAGEE, Eden Wellness, Damai Lagoon Resort, iCafe, AGN Golf, Brose Golf, Jaedals and Econsave.
Looking ahead, the Damai Ladies Challenge will return in January 2027, followed by another edition in April. The organisers hope to grow the series into an annual women’s golf tournament, eventually welcoming participants from across Malaysia.
With its mix of competition, wellness and community engagement, the initiative aims to make golf more accessible while building stronger connections among women golfers in Sarawak. Further details on registration for the January 2027 edition will be announced in due course.
