KUCHING, 2 July 2026: We recently had the opportunity to attend a Media Preview & Luncheon at The Tapang Club, which gave us a first-look of the club before its soft launching in a couple of weeks. A space designed for integrating sports, wellness and farm-to-table living, The Tapang Club is Asia’s 1st fully integrated private club of its kind, located 13.7KM away from Kuching International Airport in Batu Kitang, Bau.
BorneoTalk, alongside other Kuching-based media practitioners, were given a tour of the site and its many facilities by The Tapang Club’s Marketing Director, Darren Wee and General Manager, Kelvin Jee, who shared the philosophy behind The Tapang Club as well as the decision behind the club’s focus on security, exclusivity, sports and wellness. According to Wee, The Tapang Club aims to produce pro-athletes through global benchmarks and an integrated ecosystem, in line with Sarawak’s PCDS 2030.

The Tapang Club boasts world-class sports facilities within its 12-acre site, which includes 20 badminton courts, 4 pickleball courts and a basketball court within 2 fully air-conditioned Sports Arena complete with tournament-standard BWF and FIBA-certified flooring, professional-grade lighting and climate control and viewing galleries for tournaments and events. In addition to providing the best courts, The Tapang Club also offers a fully-decked gymnasium, a lap pool and jacuzzi, saunas and cold plunge tubs, a sports shop as well as a physiotherapy space.

The heart of Tapang Club is the Clubhouse, which serves as a social anchor for club members. Complete with a co-working space called The Ruang, a Kids Club, a bar and even a restaurant, every corner of the Clubhouse is crafted to inspire performance, foster connection and invite escape. We even tried out some of the farm’s offerings at Apis Restaurant, which serves farm-to-table menus inspired by Sarawak-fusion flavours using produce grown on-site. Next to the Clubhouse is a couple of meeting rooms as well as a massive function hall, which can seat 280 people.

Through the airy Clubhouse, we were greeted by the lap pool and jacuzzi area, as well as The Nest, home to 6 units of private en-suites. Next to The Nest is an open area which will cater to glamping tents in the future, providing immersive overnight stays for guests to explore and connect with nature.
Behind the Sports Arena is the Tapang Farm, which is home to a nursery and smart farming greenhouse, when leafy greens are grown using advanced hydroponics systems. We were even harvest and bring home some fresh coral greens after the tour!

The Tapang Club will officially open its doors on July 12, 2026. To know more about the club itself, as well as membership fees, check out https://www.thetapangclub.com/.
