Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) recently officiated its participation in ITB Berlin NOW, the inaugural virtual edition of the long-standing prestigious ITB trade shows.
Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak congratulated the launch of ITB Berlin NOW.
“We welcome and support virtual tourism marketing events during this pandemic. Movement restrictions should not hinder us from engaging with our partners in tourism through virtual platforms. This will help us to sustain and restart the tourism industry,” said Hii Chang Kee, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak.
First-ever virtual format of ITB Berlin
Held annually in Berlin, Germany, ITB Berlin is the world’s largest travel trade fair that gathers over 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries.
By participating in this marketing virtual event, STB hopes to attract the European market buyers and maintain Sarawak’s visibility worldwide in these trying times.
ITB Berlin NOW is happening now, from 9th March until 12th March with Sarawak delegates participating virtually from The Waterfront Hotel Kuching at 5:00pm – 2:00am (MYT) / 10:00am – 7:00pm (CET).
This global, virtual event format offers business networking sessions and various opportunities to adopt current trends and innovations that are shaping the future of travel industry.
Sarawak as a naturally preferred tourism destination
Sarawak is ready to put its best effort in making Sarawak a naturally preferred tourism destination by embracing the new norms of the global tourism industry.
“It is a challenging movement for all industry players during this pandemic, however, a positive development such as vaccine rollouts in the State and Malaysia generally have given tourism providers to be optimistic about travel and beyond. We hope the continuous fighting spirit among Sarawak industry players will push and accelerate the progress of rebuilding the tourism industry,” said Sharzede Datu Hj Salleh Askor, STB Chief Executive Officer.
Joining STB as delegates on ITB Berlin NOW 2021 platform are the Sarawak tourism industry partners from Kuching, Sibu and Miri namely Authentic Borneo Tours, Borneo Adventure, BESarawak (Sarawak Convention Bureau), Brighton Travel, Cat City Holidays, CPH Travel Agencies, Ecogreen Holidays, Greatown Travel , Innosar Holidays and One Wayang Tours.
BorneoTalk is also a part of ITB Berlin NOW 2021, and is honoured to be the only Malaysian Media Partner and Trade Press of this event.
At the launching event, STB also officiated its latest destination video featuring niche tourism products in cycling, caving & golfing. In addition to that is another special campaign video featuring Bindi Irwin and Sarawak’s conservation efforts.
