After a year of hiatus due to the pandemic COVID-19, the flagship music festival in Sarawak, Rainforest World Music Festival is back! And to celebrate and compensate for a year’s worth of ‘having no RWMF’, this year, the festival is FREE for everyone to attend virtually. Sweet!
Want to know how to join for FREE and who the line-ups are for #RWMF2021virtual?
Continue reading because we’ve got the low-down on some of the things you should know about this year’s festival.
It’s VIRTUAL & COMPLETELY FREE
This year’s RWMF is unlike any of its predecessors. During 2019 and BC (Before Coronavirus), we’ve seen the three-day festival filled with world music, fun activities and immersive cultural experiences taking place nowhere else but on-site at Sarawak Cultural Village – come rain, come shine!
But this year, and like many other things in our lives, RWMF is moving into the virtual world and will be streamed FOR FREE so you can watch it in the comfort of your own home. All you need to do gain access to #RWMF2021virtual is to register at http://rwmf.net/.
3 days of non-stop amazing original music line-ups
What’s familiar about #RWMF2021virtual is that it is still happening over the course of 3 days, from 18 – 20 June 2021 (Friday- Sunday). The virtual experience this year will take place from 6pm – 7:30pm (MYT).
Among the amazing performers for #RWMF2021virtual are none other than top household names in world music namely Alena Murang, Sang Rawi, Tuku’ Kame, Kemada, Mathew Ngau, At Adau, Suk Binie’ and Nading Rhapsody. These original performances can be viewed in the RWMF Virtual Stage.
Now that you know who are in the line-up, a good time is guaranteed!
More than music
According to RWMF, this virtual experience is more than just about music. It is a Rainforest reunion.
This year, audiences will be Entranced, Immersed and Liberated with “a fast-paced, fun packed show with plenty of prize giveaways, backstage gossip, flashbacks and more.”
Besides the musical performances, you can check out on-demand videos of past workshops held at any of the virtual Sarawak-ethnic traditional houses, which are Bidayuh longhouse, Iban longhouse, Chinese Farmhouse & Malay house.
RWMF also offers deals that are not to be missed. Take home some physical memory of RWMF by getting yourself an exclusive and limited-edition merchandise available to purchase from Shopee stationed at Melanau Tall house. And if you’re hungry in the middle of a show, add to cart some amazing food deals from GrabFood stationed at Orang Ulu Longhouse!
