Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign officially launched
The Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign was officially launched earlier today on January 6, 2025 by Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, complete with the unveiling of a new logo, mascots and theme song.
The officiating ceremony took place at the Malaysia Airlines Berhad Engineering Complex in Sepang, Selangor, and was also attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, among others.
According to Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, the campaign is centred on two core pillars – high-yield and sustainable tourism, which reflects the country’s commitment to offering meaningful experiences while protecting the Malaysia’s unique treasures. “To achieve this, we have identified several strategies, including enriching cultural and eco-tourism experiences, empowering local communities, improving infrastructure and encourage higher spending by promoting niche tourism experiences.”
In his keynote address, the Prime Minister shares his goal of welcoming 35.6 million international tourists to Malaysia by 2026, which would generate expected revenue of RM147.1 billion. “Our goal is clear – to promote tourism that is sustainable to our environment and communities, that acts as an engine of economic growth while providing meaningful and memorable experiences to our visitors.”

The VM2026 logo encapsulates Malaysia’s diverse ethnicities and vibrant cultures by tapping into the local batik culture, with the colour scheme representing the country’s major communities including Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sabahans and Sarawakians. The logo retained its 1999 the tag line ‘Truly Asia’ and also includes the national flower, the hibiscus. Meanwhile, the font is inspired by traditional woodcarving.
The endangered Malayan Sun Bear is the VM2026 official mascots, which symbolises the country’s commitment to wildlife conservation. The male version is named Wira, and wears the ‘Visit Malaysia 2026’ badge on his chest and a batik scarf around his neck. The female version is named Manja, which wears a batik sash around her torso and a bow with similar design on her head. The female version was further designed to have eyelashes and red cheeks. The mascots also have versions that wear the traditional costumes of Malaysia’s major ethnic groups.
Theme Song for VM2026 is titled ‘Surreal Experiences’ and features vocals from Ernie Zakri, Lil J, Nicole, Reza, Davesh and Thamiera.
