With a wealth of trade, investment and tourism opportunities up for grabs, this conference aims to further strengthen trade ties position Sarawak as a premier tourism destination in the region.
This 2-day conference will feature a number of keynote addresses, fireside chats, panel discussions and breakout sessions led by esteemed speakers and industry experts from Sarawak and Singapore.
The first day, themed ‘Expanding Trade and Investment with Sarawak’ will feature a fireside chat session between the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Singapore, Gan Kim Yong, followed by a panel discussion on investment opportunities in Sarawak and breakout sessions on renewable and future energy, digital economy and its infrastructure, smart agriculture, food security and halal food industry, manufacturing industry and services industry (trade, education and tourism). Private sector players from relevant industries will be part of the breakout sessions to share their ongoing or upcoming projects.
The second day will focus on tourism and cultural opportunities, exploring the theme of “Experience Sarawak: Borneo’s Hidden Gem’. The Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will be delivering a keynote address on sustainable tourism in the state, with a focus on balancing growth and conservation. A panel discussion on Sarawak’s 5 key pillars of tourism (Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals) will be held following the keynote address, as well as B2B engagement sessions aimed at maximising the state’s diverse tourism opportunities. These sessions include ‘Sarawak: Your Business Events Destination’ by CEO of Business Events Sarawak, Amelia Roziman, ‘Culinary Experience’ by Chairman of Culinary Heritage and Arts Society Sarawak (CHASS), Datin Dona Drury Wee and ‘Sarawak-Malaysia My Second Home Programme (SMM2H) by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datu Sherrina binti Hussaini.
