SIFMA 2025: A night of fashion, music, dance and arts

KUCHING, 7 December 2025: The 6th edition of the Sarawak International Festival of Music & Arts (SIFMA) took place on December 6 and 7, 2025 at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building auditorium, bringing together dozens of performers from across the region for two evenings of mesmerizing world-class performances. A profound celebration of artistic expression, SIFMA showcases the heartbeat of music, the grace of movement and the elegance of art and design, displaying the best of Sarawakian arts to a global audience.

The evening kicked off with ‘Sarawak to the World’ performance, followed by a series of performances by both local and international performers, including the Harit Chunhanantasap and Absolutely Thai from Thailand, Taiwan Bamboo Orchestra from Taiwan, Mahaka Music, Regina Handoko, Nataraharja and Puspa Karima from Indonesia, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre from Singapore, B’Dadali Dance Troupe, Dr. Gonzalo Noel Misa and Reginald Bernaldez from The Phillippines, Suc Song Moi Traditional Orchestra and Viet Lotus Group from Vietnam and Hu Chenyun from China, as well as Sinjo Yap, ASK Dance Company, Dancer Interface Performing Arts Studio, Dance Space, Ensemble Melayu Nusantara Trio, Cstage Dance Academy, Shangyin Music Centre, Kuching Guitar Orchestra, Karya Terindah Performing Arts, choreographer Safri bin Mustapha and the SIFMA Orchestra, which comprised conductor, Mark Malony Martinez and performers from The Band Lab, UNIMAS, RTM, SONS and various other music schools and independent studios. 


Intertwined with the performances were several fashion showcases by designers across the region, including Sarawak-born Dato Raymond Jolly, Singapore couturier, Dicky Ishak, Ulfa Mumtaza and Jeny Tjahyawati from Indonesia and Sabah’s own Steffi Necole Paul.


The evening also saw the attendance of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), Datu Sherrina binti Hussani, MTCP Deputy Permanent Secretary, Julin Alen, Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Zulkifli and wife Irma Zulkifli, Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Song Changhong and other representatives from the consulate, Consul Li Bingyan and Consul Gao Xiaoyu, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Majlis Seni Sarawak, Awang Ikman bin Awang Sepian, CEO of UNIFOR Sarawak, Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, SIFMA Chairperson, Dr. Geraldine Law-Lee and SIFMA Consultants, Dr. Gilbert de Greeve and Chan Lay Na.
