Sarawak to host 3rd Asian Doubles Squash championship

KUCHING, 15 Jun 2026 — The heartbeat of Asian squash returns to Sarawak this June as the 3rd Asian Doubles Squash Championship 2026 takes centre stage at the Sarawak Squash Centre, Petra Jaya, from June 18 to 21. Organised by the Squash Racquets Association of Sarawak (SRAS) and sanctioned by the Asian Squash Federation, the prestigious tournament promises four days of world‑class competition right here in Sarawak.

Malaysia’s role as host for the third consecutive year reflects the nation’s strong squash ecosystem and world‑class facilities. From Johor Bahru in 2024 to Kuching in 2025, each edition has built momentum, and now Sarawak once again rises to the occasion, entrusted to deliver another successful chapter in Asia’s squash journey.

For Sarawak, the championship is a milestone in the State’s growing reputation as an emerging sports hub. The tournament is expected to boost sports tourism, energise local businesses, and provide invaluable exposure for Sarawakian athletes competing against Asia’s best on home soil. It is also a chance to showcase Kuching as a dynamic and welcoming destination for international sporting events.

As squash continues to grow globally, this tournament plays a crucial role in raising standards and strengthening the sport across Asia.

This year’s edition welcomes participation from nine countries: Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China), India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Thailand, with Thailand making its debut in the Mixed Doubles category. A total of 69 players and 21 officials will be present, bringing overall participation to 90 delegates.

Fans can expect thrilling action with 16 Men’s Doubles pairs, 13 Women’s Doubles pairs and 18 Mixed Doubles pairs. India’s Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar return as defending Men’s Doubles champions, while Joshna Chinappa will defend her Women’s Doubles crown with a new partner. In Mixed Doubles, Abhay Singh will also compete with a new partner as he seeks to retain his title, ensuring high‑level matches and fierce rivalries throughout the four‑day event.

The public is warmly invited to attend the championship from June 18 to 21.
