KUCHING, 25 June 2025: The Sarawak Roadtour with CAM CO-STAR 2025 was officially flagged off earlier today at Roxy Kuching by Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and will take 7 journalists on a minibus trip across Sarawak, stopping at important tourist attractions in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

The roadtour, organised by CAM Malaysia and Asian Buses, aims to highlight the beauty of the state while showcasing the performance and versatility of CAM vehicles, which includes the automatic KINGO 6AT, PLACER-X as well as the 20/28 Seater CO-STAR minibus. Through the roadtour, the journalists and operators will get to experience firsthand the comfort and handling of the vehicle and serve as a blueprint for tourists and families.

“It is important that we showcase the versatility of buses to spur creative uses, seeing as Sarawak’s economy and creative business ideas involving buses of similar sizes are fast gaining popularity, as they can also cater to inner city tours and motorhomes,” shared Kapitan Goh Kee Seng of Huong Seng Motor Trading. During today’s event, CAM Malaysia also showcased some alternative usages of the vehicles, which includes a mini ambulance and a travelling library.

“We realise that there is a lot of potential in East Malaysia, especially since we’ve built a reputation among tour bus operators. The roadtour is an excellent opportunity for us to boost the CAM Malaysia brand, making the vehicles accessible to operators in each of the cities the roadtour will stop in. By gathering valuable feedback, we hope to further improve on brand performance and inspire others to consider road transport for travel,” said CAM Malaysia Head of Business Development, Gwee Chin Li.

“With the completion of the Pan Borneo Highway, tourists can easily explore all parts of Sarawak, from Telok Melano to Lawas and all the cities, town and places in between. MTCP applauds the organization of roadtours such as these, as it aims to encourage and inspire more travellers to get on the road. We wish all the participants the best of luck in their journey!” enthused Dato Sri Abdul Karim after the flagoff ceremony.

Meanwhile, a sequel to the Sarawak Roadtour with CAM CO-STAR is already in the works, and will take the vehicle all the way to Sabah later this year.
