Sarawak Indigenous Crafts in Paris!

PARIS, France, 22 May 2025 – Sarawak is showcasing its unique cultural heritage on the global stage, grabbing the attention of visitors at the prestigious REVELATIONS Biennale Paris 2025 with its Sarawak Crafts Revealed exhibition. From May 21 to 25, the Grand Palais Éphémère is transformed into a vibrant showcase of the region’s intricate indigenous crafts, marking a significant milestone in Sarawak's international creative industry agenda.

The highlight of this exhibition was the meeting between Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan and the President of the World Crafts, Bárbara Velasco, in an effort to emphasise Sarawak’s commitment to cultural exchange and sustainable craft development.

“The Ministry is proud to support Sarawak’s participation at this renowned international platform,” Snowdan said in a press statement. “The exhibition reflects the government’s dedication to preserving traditional knowledge while helping artisans grow and succeed in the global creative economy.”

The essence of Sarawak’s identity are its indigenous communities, who serve as vital keepers of centuries-old craft traditions passed down through generations. The Sarawak Crafts Revealed exhibition not only honours them as guardians of their heritage but also provides them with a global platform.

The Sarawak Crafts Revealed initiative directly supports the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak’s ambitious vision to cultivate the creative industry as a key economic driver under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030). By forging crucial links between local craft communities and new international markets and opportunities, the exhibition is paving global pathways for Sarawak's future of its creative industry.
