Pullman Kuching lights up the holiday season

KUCHING, 2 December 2025 – Pullman Kuching hosted its annual Christmas Tree Light Up last night, one of the most anticipated traditions at the hotel. Close to 200 specially invited guests, including representatives from the community, corporate partners, media, and influencers, gathered to mark the joyous occasion and witness a celebration of community, care, and stunning transformation.

Speaking of transformation, step into the hotel and you’ll immediately notice how different and incredibly exciting the new look of the hotel is. While renovations are not fully completed yet, the updates thus far are exceptional. The newly renovated lobby, now designed as a "living room under a forest canopy" concept, is cosy and inviting. The refreshed space, including the lift lobby and even the toilets, shows that much thought has been put into the new look and feel of the hotel, elevating it to a whole new height. The hotel invites guests to "check in where Kuching rises," focusing on connection, collaboration, and togetherness. Adding the final touch of holiday magic, the new Christmas tree is now ever more beautifully decorated and adds a wonderfully festive touch to the hotel's décor for the season.

INTRODUCING CULINA

The night offered guests a preview of the hotel's Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner and experience its dining transformation. We were absolutely blown away by the newly-refreshed restaurant, now opened as Culina. This eatery has been thoughtfully designed to transform it into a fabulous space for dining. The posh interior, the comfortable seating areas, the modern buffet counters, and the live carving and cooking stations, starters, and dessert areas are all fabulously brand new.

The food was fantastic and flavourful, with everything from starters to dessert beautifully presented and delicious. This Christmas Eve, diners can expect a delicious spread. Classic Christmas Turkey is carved live at the station, complemented by the chef’s signature pairings. During the dinner preview, we experienced the outstanding quality firsthand: the roast beef was succulent, and the grilled lamb with rosemary sauce was flavoursome. For those seeking bold, local flavours, the Sarawak Laksa was absolutely one of the best there is and is a must-try. Their Butter Prawns is also highly recommended. Guests can also indulge in menu items like seafood on Ice with prawns and crab, and Culina Signatures like roasted duck.

The Christmas Eve Buffet on 24 December features a visit from Santa Claus, Santarina, and live acoustic performances. The buffet dinner is priced at RM228+ per adult, which includes a complimentary "Crimson Noel" signature mocktail, and RM118+ per child, as well as 30% discount for senior citizens aged 60 and above, with Accor Plus benefits also applicable.

INCLUSIVITY AND CARE

This year’s Light Up was special with the launch of Pullman Kuching's Christmas Diversity, Equality, and Inclusivity (DEI) campaign in collaboration with the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA). This partnership brought children and families from KAA into the cheerful, festive gathering.

“Hospitality, at its heart, is about people - about community and care,” said Pullman Kuching’s General Manager, Sunardi Song.

“Christmas at Pullman Kuching has always been more than lights and décor. It is about togetherness, shared experiences, and the joy of celebrating as one community. Tonight, that spirit shines brighter than ever,” he added.

Song also highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying: “Diversity, equity, and inclusivity have always been core pillars of our culture. Tonight, we were honoured to launch our support for the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA), an organisation that tirelessly empowers people with autism to achieve their full potential and live independent, fulfilling lives.”

Throughout the evening, the lobby displayed artwork and festive merchandise created by the KAA children. This offered guests a thoughtful reminder of the value of understanding, patience, and celebration.

Speaking on the positive impact of the initiative, Secretary of the Kuching Autistic Association, Duane Reggie said: “Many of our children expressed themselves through creativity — through colour, texture, and the small details that reflected how they experienced the world. Sharing their artwork in Pullman Kuching gave families a space to exchange stories about their children as we eased into the festive season.”

He added that moments like these helped others understand the different ways our children communicated, and that understanding made a meaningful difference.

GIVE AND CELEBRATE

Pullman Kuching introduced two key festive initiatives to support KAA's educational and developmental programmes. For one, guests can purchase seasonal merchandise and artwork at the KAA Merchandise Corner located in the hotel lobby, with 100% of the sales supporting the organisation. Also, a portion of the proceeds from the upcoming Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner will be contributed to KAA's programmes. This commitment to the community extends the same spirit that has long guided the hotel's support of the Penan Women Project, which helps preserve traditional Penan weaving and provides women with income and scholarship support.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s New Year’s Eve Countdown Dinner Buffet on 31 December will highlight Pan-Asian flavours, fresh seafood like smoked salmon, and live stations featuring Japanese tempura. Guests have flexible options. The dinner buffet alone is priced at RM268+ per adult, while the full package, which includes dinner plus exclusive access to the Countdown Party at The Junction with a DJ performance and balloon drop, is available for RM368+ per adult. There is a 20% Early Bird discount for bookings made before 15 December. Additionally, a 20% discount is available for senior citizens (60yo and above) and group bookings of eight people or more, with Accor Plus benefits applying here as well.
