Night in Motion Brings Music, Dance and Choral Excellence Together in a Spectacular Showcase

KUCHING, 3 August 2026: An extraordinary evening of music and movement unfolded at Night in Motion, held at VOCO Kuching by IHG, where dance, piano and choral performances came together in a captivating production celebrating artistic collaboration and creative excellence.

The concert united the voices of Dolce Chanticleer, the expressive choreography of The Dance Academy Kuching (TDAK), and the remarkable talents of internationally acclaimed pianists Esme Wong and Jacob Nydegger. Together, they presented a programme that seamlessly blended classical masterpieces with contemporary compositions, transforming familiar works into a visually and emotionally immersive experience.

Designed as more than just a concert, Night in Motion explored the relationship between sound and movement, allowing audiences to experience music through both performance and dance. Every piece reflected a balance of elegance, energy and emotion, showcasing how different art forms can complement one another on a single stage.

Speaking after the performance, Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, commended the performers and production team for delivering a production of international calibre. He said the concert demonstrated Sarawak's growing ability to stage world-class performing arts while highlighting the exceptional talent found within the state.

He also thanked the artists, conductor and production crew for bringing the production to life, noting that performances of this quality allow Sarawakians to experience internationally recognised artistic standards without leaving home.

Beyond the performances, the evening also celebrated the power of the arts to unite people across cultures and disciplines. Through music, dance and choral harmony, the concert reflected themes of unity, diversity and shared creativity while inspiring audiences to appreciate the beauty of artistic expression.

Looking ahead, Dr Sim expressed confidence that the Sarawak Performing Arts Centre, expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027, will further strengthen the state's performing arts ecosystem and provide a platform for local talents to shine on the international stage.
