KUALA LUMPUR, 11 June 2026: The ‘Flavour of Sabah Kaamatan and Taste of Sarawak Gawai Promotion 2026’ was officially launched yesterday evening at Ibis Kuala Lumpur City Centre hotel, highlighting the diversity of East Malaysia’s culture and gastronomy in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Launched by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, Chiew Choon Man, the event is organised by Ibis Kuala Lumpur City Centre and serves as a food and culture promotion while providing local and international visitors a unique opportunity to experience the richness of Bornean culture.
“Such efforts not only enrich Malaysia’s tourism offerings but also foster a deeper appreciation of the diverse cultures that define our nation and strengthen our national unity. Sarawak and Sabah’s unique cultural heritage forms an invaluable part of Malaysia’s national identity and contributes significantly to our appeal as a world-class tourism destination,” shared Chiew in his officiating speech.

“I would also like to express my appreciation to Tourism Malaysia, the management and team at ibis Kuala Lumpur City Centre, industry partners, participating chefs, cultural performers, artisans, media representatives, and all those who have contributed to the success of this initiative. Your dedication and collaboration demonstrate the spirit of partnership that is essential in advancing Malaysia’s tourism and cultural agenda,” he concluded.
