Front Row turns Sarawak into comedy hub

KUCHING, 6 November 2025 - It’s official: Sarawak has found its funny bone! Laughter is echoing through concert halls and comedy clubs in the State, thanks to the trailblazing efforts of Front Row Entertainment Sdn Bhd. Front Row was founded in 2020 with a dream to elevate Sarawak’s live entertainment scene, starting first with music concerts, including the Queen Tribute Concert, Dancing Queen, Boney M 50th Anniversary Tour, and Live in Miri – Wali in Concert. Front Row has now done something no one saw coming: it’s turned Sarawak into a comedy powerhouse, and not just a stop on the tour.

“Our foray into live comedy began with Kings and Queens of Comedy Asia Edition 9 in 2023. The response was overwhelming. Audiences were asking when the next show would be – and comedians were asking how they could be part of it,” said Front Row’s managing director Ameerah Alsree.

That momentum led to the launch of Front Row Comedy Sentral (FRCS) in July 2025, a dedicated platform for stand-up, sketch, satire, and storytelling. Shows like Douglas Lim – Made in Malaysia, Laugh Queens, and Kumar Fifty: 50 have drawn packed houses, with Kumar’s tour alone selling out three shows and attracting over 2,000 fans in Kuching and Miri.

“FRCS is more than a stage,” Ameerah explained. “It’s a new pillar in Sarawak’s entertainment landscape – one that supports our goal of attracting both domestic and international visitors.”

To close the year, Front Row is bringing two comedy heavyweights to Kuching: Harith Iskander with Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban on 23 November, and rising star Kindra Bose with Smell Like Curry on 5 December.

“We’re not just importing talent,” Ameerah added. “We’re cultivating it. We’re working hand-in-hand with comedians, musicians, and creative organisations to build an ecosystem where laughter is serious business.”

Backed by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Front Row is proving that Sarawakian audiences are ready to embrace comedy – and claim their seat at the table.

“We hope entertainment fans and comedy lovers in Sarawak and beyond will grab this golden opportunity to see these hilarious comedians live on stage,” said Ameerah.
