Expo 2025: Designing Future Society for Our Lives

OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN, 9 May 2025 – Expo 2025 is in full swing and is transforming Japan’s bustling port city into a global hub of innovation, culture, and collaboration. Since opening its doors on April 13, it has welcomed over 2.1 million visitors, with over 10.9 million tickets sold. This global event, taking place on Yumeshima Island, is one of the most diverse and exciting expos in history.

With 188 pavilions, Expo 2025 offers a chance to experience the world in one place. Each pavilion is designed to showcase the best of its country, from cutting-edge technology to colourful traditions. Some of the most anticipated pavilions include Japan’s futuristic showcase, the UAE’s vision of sustainability, France’s artistic and culinary wonders, and Malaysia’s special pavilion, which highlights heritage and sustainable development.

The expo site itself features different zones centred around the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. Visitors can explore areas dedicated to the sub-themes of CONNECTING LIVES, SAVING LIVES, and EMPOWERING LIVES, which offer interactive exhibits, immersive experiences, and powerful discussions.

The concept of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is the “People’s Living Lab”, a groundbreaking approach that transforms the expo into a space for real-world experimentation and innovation. Instead of just presenting futuristic ideas, this expo brings them to life.

SIGNATURE PAVILIONS

Expo 2025 features eight Signature Pavilions that explore different aspects of life and the future. One of the standout pavilions is FUTURE OF LIFE, produced by Hiroshi Ishiguro, one of Japan’s leading roboticists. It looks at how technology will shape human existence over the next 50 years, and features interactive exhibits on AI, robotics, as well as futuristic urban living. The EARTH MART pavilion is another interesting one. Led by Koyama Kundo, a renowned producer and storyteller, this pavilion challenges visitors to rethink their everyday relationship with food and discover new, sustainable ways of eating. The DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM OF LIFE pavilion, designed by biologist and author Shin-Ichi Fukuoka, explores the delicate balance that sustains life and challenges visitors to rethink the understanding of their very existence.
