Music and Words 2025: The Sound of Our People will be headlined by KCFCA’s flagship choir, Jehté Chamber Choir.
KUCHING, SARAWAK, 14 November 2025 – The Kuching City First Choir Association (KCFCA) will present its annual choral concert and choral art talk on Saturday, 29 November 2025. Now in its fourth year, the Music and Words 2025 concert will showcase choral music performed by choirs and vocal ensembles from diverse backgrounds, in line with this year’s theme, “The Sound of Our People.”

KCFCA continues its mission to demonstrate that choral music is for everyone and not only confined to sacred settings. This concert forms part of the association’s ongoing efforts to elevate the choral art scene in Sarawak by highlighting its thrilling, inclusive, and accessible nature. The association aims to educate the public on the excitement of choral music and welcomes individuals of all backgrounds to experience it.

MUSIC & WORDS 2025 CONCERT

The evening concert will feature a showcase of diversity, with five choirs performing. The concert will be headlined by Jehté Chamber Choir, KCFCA’s flagship ensemble, performing a mix of Western and contemporary local compositions. Audiences can also expect presentations from the award-winning Felis Catus Chamber Choir from Sekolah Seni Malaysia Sarawak, who will be presenting their renditions of ethnic pieces arranged for choir. The Voice Lab will bring pop choral singing inspired by groups like Pentatonix. The concert will also include Chinese choral music by the Chung Hua Middle School No.1 Alumni Choir and introduce the new voices of the KCFCA x Prodigy Community Choir. The evening will be enriched by vocal duo and quartet performances, as well as piano instrumental interlude.

George Tay Wee Yang, Artistic Director of the concert, shared his excitement for the event:“This is our 4th annual concert, and the lineup and their performances befit the theme 'The Sound of Our People.' We believe this diversity is the key to redefining choral art and showing our community that this genre is accessible, thrilling, and for everyone. It's exhilarating to have an award-winning ensemble like Felis Catus Chamber Choir presenting ethnic pieces and an Indonesian work in a choral setting, performing right alongside the pop-choral arrangements of The Voice Lab. This is the representation of where the future of choral music in our community is headed, and I surely do hope everyone will enjoy it.”
