Day 2 of Borneo Games brings more gold to Sarawak
With the conclusion of Day 2, we are officially halfway through the Borneo Games.
KUCHING, 26 September 2025: After an electrifying day at the Petra Jaya Sports Complex here in Kuching today, we are officially halfway through the 2025 Borneo Games! After stellar performances across all 7 sports contested, Sarawak has amassed a total of 90 medals, including 31 gold, 35 silver and 24 bronze medals.

Today’s medal tally shows significant additions by Sarawak’s Athletics and Swimming teams, as well as the state’s very first gold medal for Badminton. After a grueling day over at the Indoor Unity Stadium, the Men’s Badminton team beat Sabah in 4 out of 5 matches to win the gold, while the Sabah’s Women’s Team beat Sarawak 4-1. 


Meanwhile over at the Sarawak Stadium during Athletics, Sarawak’s Ironman Jonah Chang ak Rigan once again brought home the gold, this time for the Men’s Discus Throw. Sarawak also conquered today’s hurdles race, with both Elvin Yap and Syarifah Nur Alisya bt Syed Zafirna winning the gold medal in Men’s and Women’s 100M Hurdles.

Over at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, Sarawak’s Swimming Team scored 6 more gold medals out of the 9 offered today, bringing their total to 11 gold, 14 silver and 7 bronze medals. Sarawak’s star swimmer, Hii Puong Wei brought home two more gold medals today, and with 5 gold medals under his wing, he is currently the top medalist for the 2025 Borneo Games! Fellow Sarawakian swimmer, Chereen Ngo Yirui is also proving to be a force on the water, with a total of 6 medals acquired (3 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medals) after only 2 days of the Games.
