KUCHING, 11 February 2026 - Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian announced this morning that Sarawak will be hosting its much-anticipated Sarawak State-Level Chinese New Year Celebration 2026 on Feb 17 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), from 10am to 2pm. The announcement was made during a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia this morning.
Dr. Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak and the Minister in charge of the Sarawak State-Level Chinese New Year Celebration, said the annual celebration “serves as an important platform to foster unity, mutual respect and understanding among the diverse communities in Sarawak. It reflects the spirit of inclusivity and harmony that has long been the foundation of our State's strength and stability.”

The celebration will be graced by the Governor of Sarawak, His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, along with other prominent guests representing Sarawak’s diverse communities.
“Their presence symbolises the unity of leadership and the collective commitment towards preserving peace and harmony in our multi-ethnic and multi-religious society,” Dr. Sim added.
This is an open celebration, and everyone is warmly invited to join in the festivities. Dr. Sim encouraged all Sarawakians to attend, saying the celebration offers a wonderful opportunity “to interact and strengthen ties across communities while enjoying the festive hospitality prepared for the occasion.”
He highlighted that the open celebration “embodies the values of sharing, togetherness, and mutual appreciation that define Sarawak's unique social fabric.”

Dr. Sim emphasised that organising this State-level celebration demonstrates the Sarawak Government's dedication to the people.
“The organisation of this State-level celebration underscores the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to strengthening social cohesion, enhancing inter-ethnic harmony and ensuring sustained stability,” he explained.
“These elements remain critical pillars in driving Sarawak's development agenda and long-term prosperity,” Dr. Sim concluded, adding that the Government would continue to uphold and promote such inclusive celebrations as part of its broader efforts to build a progressive, united and resilient Sarawak.
Mark your calendars for Feb 17 2026, and join in this joyous celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.
