KUCHING, 26 August 2025: AFFIN Group has expanded its presence in East Malaysia with today’s launching of the new Hikmah Exchange Branch on the ground floor, as well as the Regional Office and Corporate Office on the 10th Floor, marking a key milestone under the AFFIN Axelerate 2028 (AX28) Plan with the opening of the 13th branch in the state.

Officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the launching reflects AFFIN’s commitment to supporting Sarawak’s economic growth while advancing financial inclusivity and accessibility to foster long-term prosperity across the region.

Hikmah Exchange, Sarawak’s first smart building, is set to be a financial hub for AFFIN in Kuching, consolidating retail banking, corporate services and investment advisory under one roof. Customers will get to enjoy enhanced facilities at the new branch, including modern branch services, the AFFIN INVIKTA Lounge for premium clients and Affin Islamic Bank Berhad Marketing Counter, while the 10th Floor will be home to the Sarawak Regional Office, Sarawak Corporate Office, Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, Affin Hwang Investment Bank and Advisory, customer lounge, multipurpose hall and meeting rooms.

“The Hikmah Exchange Branch, Sarawak Regional Office and Sarawak Corporate Office mark an important step in our journey to serve East Malaysia more effectively. By bringing retail banking, corporate services and investment advisory together in one hub, we are making it easier for families, SMEs and businesses in Sarawak to access the support they need,” said President & Group Chief Executive Officer of AFFIN Group, Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah during the launching earlier today. In his speech, Datuk Wan Razly also shared that loan approvals are now available in Kuching, eliminating the need to wait for decisions from Kuala Lumpur.

“Sarawak has long been a hub for collaboration. With AFFIN’s arrival, it is now becoming a hub for financial growth. Businesses here no longer need to look elsewhere; the expertise is right here in Kuching. AFFIN’s reach is also international. Its collaboration with MUFG Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, the fifth largest bank in Asia, opens new frontiers in Islamic Finance, Green Finance, and Digital Transformation. For Sarawak, this is a gateway that gives our exporters, investors, and entrepreneurs direct access to global markets, enabling us to compete regionally and globally,” shared the Premier of Sarawak during his launching speech.

Along with the launching, AFFIN also introduced the AFFIN Borneo Credit Card and the AFFIN Automated Safe Deposit Locker (ASDL). The AFFIN Borneo Credit Card is the first in Malaysia designed with the everyday needs of Sarawak and Sabah communities in mind. With 0.5% unlimited cashback, a low finance charge/profit rate of 8% and no annual fee for life, the Borneo Credit Card is made from 100% recycled PVC, delivering everyday value and flexibility while supporting sustainable practices.

AFFIN will debut the card at the Borneo Credit Card Roadshow at Vivacity Megamall in Kuching from September 5 to 7, 2025. With exclusive giveaways, dedicated sales counters and more, the road show will extend across major malls in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu throughout 2025. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s first robotic self-service locker system, the AFFIN Automated Safe Deposit Locker was launched at the AFFIN Northbank Branch in Kuching, setting a new benchmark in security and convenience.
