Inspired by the Rainforest

Spanning 1,234 square metres, the Malaysia Pavilion is inspired by the country’s magnificent rainforest. The pavilion features elements such as interconnected canopies, floating canopies and a meandering river.

On top of that, the nation’s pavilion is the first net-zero-carbon pavilion at the EXPO. It was designed by Malaysian award-winning firm Hijjas Architects + Planners.

Energising Sustainability

Malaysia Pavillion’s theme is ‘Energising Sustainability’.  Led by the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI), and Malaysian Green Technology & Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), the pavilion showcases the nation’s forward-thinking dedication to Green Growth, Climate Change Mitigation as well as Climate Change Resilience and Adaptation.

In addressing solutions for 21st Century issues like climate change, sustainability and environment, Malaysia has adopted a low-carbon, resilient, resource-efficient and socially inclusive framework. These core values are displayed throughout the pavilion, under four designated segments, namely:

* Energising Business (Lower Ground Floor)
–   Trade + Business + Investment

* Energising Harmony (Ground Floor)
–   Cultural + Arts & Crafts + Heritage + F&B

* Energising Today (First Floor)

* Energising Tomorrow (Second Floor)
–   Exhibitions & Showcase

#MyBUTTERFLYEFFECT

#MyButterflyEffect is the brand campaign for the pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. It is symbolised by the iconic Rajah Brooke’s birdwing (Trogonoptera brookiana) butterfly.

Inspired by American meteorologist Edward N. Lorenz, it is a holistic concept that encourages people towards new forms of thinking, new actions and new outcomes for sustainable development.

In essence, the campaign aspires for the green future of Malaysia and the world through the butterfly and momentous effects of small steps.
