Kedey Kamek Serves up Flavours from Home

Local restaurant Kedey Kamek has made quite a name for itself. And with a second Kuching outlet now open in Satok as well as a canteen with similar concept at a local college here, business is going good for 27-year-old entrepreneur and owner Amin Aznizan. Kedey Kamek is local Malay dialect for “my shop”, which is most fitting for a family-run restaurant business. It was first opened in Kuala Lumpur in 2015, but Amin decided to close the KL store and bring business back home to Sarawak instead. On Jan 16, 2016, Kedey Kamek opened its shutters for the first time for its MetroCity Matang outlet. Response from the public was overwhelming. A year later, a second outlet was opened in Satok. Kedey Kamek focuses on home-style dishes prepared using time-honoured family recipes. The menu caters to customers of all ages, making the restaurant an excellent choice for families.

For breakfast, we have Canai Tsunami, Mi Kolo and Nasi Lemak Berlauk served a la carte. For lunch we have our buffet, with specials on Tuesday, Wednesday and weekends. On Wednesdays our special dish is Nasi Briyani Ayam. Every weekend we will have our special meal Set Linut (traditional delicacy made from sago flour) for lunch. As for dinner, we will also add one Western set every day such as beef steak, chicken chop or lamb chop aside from our a la carte menu,” said acting cook 1 Mohd Kiplie.

Besides the specials, Kedey Kamek also recommends Sarawak Laksa and Nasik Goreng Kecok.

Teatime customers can enjoy delicious home-style fritters, with an assortment that includes sweet potato, yam and their special Cucur Pusuk (anchovy fritter),” said Cook 1,

Puan Suzana. She went on to say that the menus were similar for both outlets except for canai, which is only available at their Matang outlet. Meanwhile, Kedey Kamek also provides catering services and can accommodate a variety of corporate and private events. They also offer wedding packages encompassing everything from food to wedding photography, priced at an affordable RM5000 only.
