5 must see movies at the Japanese Film Festival 2019

Back for its 16th edition, Japanese Film Festival (JFF) will feature 13 movies of various genres from October 3-6 at GSC CityOne Megamall, Kuching. Boasting a broad collection of movies from comedy, romance and family, here are the five titles of movies we are most excited for this year’s Japanese Film Festival

  1. A Banana? At This Time of Night? (こんな夜更けにバナナかよ)

34 years old Yasuaki Shikano suffers from muscular dystrophy since he was 12. Incapacitated and immobile, he recruits a volunteer (Hisashi Tanaka) to help him cater to his every whim –running out of the hospital and demanding to eat a banana late at night. Yasuaki then fell in love with a new volunteer Misaki Ando but little did he know that Misai and Hisashi are a couple. Their lives began to change soon after.

3.Color Me True(今夜ロマンス劇場で)

Kenji, an aspiring young assistant director falls in love with Miyuki, a princess who emerged from his favourite black & white movie into the real world. Together, they experience a life full of colours but unknown to Kenji, Miyuki is harbouring a secret she cannot reveal

4.Lying to Mom (鈴木家の嘘)

Koichi is a son in the Suzuki family who is a hikikomori (recluse). His sudden death shocked and confuses the rest of the family, father Yukio, daughter Yumi and especially mother Yuko who loses her memory. Fumi lies to her mother and convinces her that Koichi is no longer a hikikomori and currently works in Argentina.

5.Samurai Shifters (引っ越し大名!)

In the Edo period, Shunnosuke who is a samurai and a bookworm receive  a mission to help a daimyo relocat. Shy and inexperienced, he seeks aid from his childhood friend Genemon Takamura and Oran—daughter of former magistrate in charge of relocation—to carry out the task with absolute caution.
