Some 12,400 people have registered for the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) that’s going virtual for the first time this Friday, June 18, 2021.
Themed ‘Entranced, Liberated, Immersed’, RWMF2021 will be held virtually on its official site, TVS and Shopee Live, from June 18-20 at 6pm-7:30pm. For three days, it will feature a retrospective of past RWMF performances and new pre-recorded sessions with homegrown acts like Alena Murang, Suk Binie’, and Sang Rawi, to name a few.

Speaking at a press conference for the event on June 16, Minister Of Tourism, Arts And Culture Sarawak Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said in addition to RWMF2021, the iconic Borneo Jazz Festival would also be going virtual this year. He said this was a practical step forward, and an opportunity to take the events to the next level while the world is still recovering from the pandemic.
“By going virtual, RWMF2021 and BJF2021 will allow devoted fans to relive and reminisce on the highlights of past editions, and give new audiences a glimpse of the festivals and what makes them so special,” he added.
This year’s Borneo Jazz Festival (BJF) will be available on its official site, TVS and on Shopee Live from June 25 to 27, 6pm to 7.30pm. Viewers will be serenaded by a string of jazz musicians including Clinton Jerome Chua, O-Ha Soul Band, Nisa Addina, Ta’Dan and the “Prince of Borneo” himself – Pete Kallang, among flashbacks and exclusive interviews.
