If you’re looking for somewhere to be on New Year’s eve, look no further than Miri. Usher in a new year at Marina Park City, a beautiful urban waterfront development.

An estimated 50,000 people are anticipated to descend upon the promenade. Visit Miri 2018 is a project aimed at generating interest and increasing awareness of the city’s cultural and eco tourism. If you’re wondering what the hype is about or what could possibly whet the appetite of 50,000 visitors, read on.

Four different sections will be open for people of all ages with varying interests to lose themselves in. We’ll start with the Bazaar area, as eating is a favourite Malaysian pastime. Coupling trendy and exciting modern eateries alongside Miri’s local delicacy, prepare to be assaulted with unique and invigorating flavours. Look forward to surf n’ turf, buttermilk Sarawak bursting to life -lobster and golden prawn laksa in alongside belacan fried bee hoon and traditional kueh. Food trucks will also be stationed around the Bazaar so keep an eye out!

An event zone will be dedicated to stage performances where local Sarawakian artists will exhibit their craft – expect plenty of dancing and singing from performers and the crowd alike! Come along and support local born Malaysian performers!

The vast activities area will leave you rejuvenated with celebrations. Witness the parade that will be coursing throughout the zones, injecting life and joy with their array of talent. Marvel at the marriage of different cultures as costumes signifying different festivities will be featured. Extraordinary arts and crafts will leave you speechless when seeing the dexterity and technique of veteran craftsmen. A music zone will consist of buskers, where traditional native music will seamlessly transition into current and more modern melodies. Families are welcome to spend time in the Kidzone, with a large play area for the children to frolic in and live entertainment available.

The final zone is allocated especially to the fireworks, last but not least. Lasting no less than six minutes, music will accompany the pyrotechnic display. Round off your night by witnessing the illuminative show together with your fellow party-goers and welcome the New Year in style!
